• Note: According to his North American Family Histories biography, Abel Newton and his family moved from Colchester, Connecticut, to Warren, New York, in 1794. Using carts pulled by teams of oxen, it took them 18 days to make the 200-mile-long journey. In March 1837, he and his wife moved with their son Amasa to Warren in Otsego County, where they died.
