Facts and Notes

  • Birth: About 19022
  • Anecdote: About 1944
  • Note: Mary Sicard Cobb Russo wrote the following about Gabriella: "She never married and was an executive of the Bank of France for many years in Limoges and later in Tulle, France. During War II, Tulle was occupied by German troops during WW2, this being a weapon manufacturing city. One day during this occupation, several German military officials came to Gabrielle Jouannet's door and demanded she accompany them to her office at the Bank of France - they requested access inside of the bank - which of course Gaby was compelled to comply - they took all the currency they could find and escorted Gaby back to her home. Gabrielle was terrified and of course her family distraught."
