  8. Several census records have transcribed Richard Murray's middle initial as a "J." However, after much internal deliberation (and a few old handwriting courses), I believe most of the "J" transcriptions are erroneous transcriptions of the letter "I," and that Richard "J" Murray and Richard "I" Murray refer to the same person.
