- Military: July 1777; Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, USABGO; William Duncan served in the Revolutionary War as a 1st Lieutenant in John Hamilton’s Company, Colonel Samuel Lyon’s 4th Battalion of Pennsylvania’s Cumberland County Militia. He was already 52 years old when he appeared on the 31 July 1777 roll and probably only served for a short time since he did not appear on subsequent muster rolls.3,9
