- Note: Martha Stone Cobb Daniel wrote the following about Mildred Cobb and Dr. Raymond Redden: "Mildred Cobb married Dr. Raymond Redden who lived in Sulligent only ten miles away - Daddy would slip Aunt Millie out to meet her fair swain half-way, because again the family did not approve - Pa Cobb thought no man good enough for Mildred - After all, had not the President of Athens College written him that Mildred was worth her weight in gold. After a time, Nanny and Pa Cobb dropped their objections and Mildred was happy, but one last request, that her wedding gift from parents would not be the usual piano, but a horse and buggy, since she would live all of ten miles away."
